UK farm reform plan on ice till 2014, London admits
The reform of European farm spending is unlikley to take place before 2014, according to Britain's agriculture minister Margaret Beckett.
Speaking to the Bloomberg agency Mrs Beckett said "It is very unlikely to begin in the first part of the new financial perspectives [2014-2020]."
Her comments go against British prime minister Tony Blair's calls for rapid reforms to farm subsidies - which account for more than 40 percent of the EU budget - at last month's EU summit.
OK, so Blair wants a revamping of the acriculture system now, but his agriculture secretary dosn't think it'll happen for another nine years? Wow.
